TEC Top 10 DO List

Here are 10 important Do's and Don'ts for all instructors and staff who use Technology-Enhanced Classrooms. Please don't assume someone else will do these things. Your participation is needed and appreciated, especially if you are the last person of the day in a particular room.

DO

  • Log off from your account each time you finish class (Start/Log off) so someone else can't use or abuse your account. However, leave computers on at all times so they will be ready for the next instructor and automated processes can run to keep the computers updated.

  • Turn off LCD projectors and document camera lamps (where these exist) each time you end class in order to extend the life of these expensive lamps. However, if another class immediately follows your class then keeping those devices on with be more prudent.

  • Close and lock windows to discourage thieves and prevent bad weather from ruining rooms.

  • Help secure rooms against thieves by closing and re-arming entrance doors. Re-arming is only necessary after you have used an FSU card to gain entry to a room with a card reader (please see our re-arming procedures on this page)

  • Enforce the "No Food and Drink in the Classroom" policy set forth by the Provost.

  • Visit the Technology-Enhanced Classroom support site for information about technology in your classroom

  • Keep your account and password secret. If others need access to classroom computers, they should sign up for their own account.

  • Call Space and Scheduling at 644-1050 to reserve a room if you need a Technology-Enhanced Classroom outside of your regularly scheduled class time.

DON'T hesitate to

  • Click this link for details (FSUID Required) with your requests for training or with your questions, feedback, or requests for help, by phone, or by e-mail.
